In the immediate vicinity of Austria is the place Staré Hobzí. The distance from Waidhofen / Thaya is about 30 km, the border crossing Fratres (Lower Austria) is only 8 km away.
The town is a hub between Dacice, Slavonice and Jemnice - all these towns are only 8 km away. Staré Hobzí belongs to the district Jindřichův Hradec.
The place was first documented in 1190. An absolute historical attraction is our ancient hunting castle in baroque style (17th century) with the wonderful vaulting fresco Mariae Coronation by Felix Thomas Anton Scheffler (1728) in the chapel.
Also worth a visit is the church of the Assumption of the Virgin and St. Andrew from the 14th century with the gravestone of Joh. Peter Ritter von Flick (1812).
Our castle café is a great way to spend time before or after the guided tour of the castle. If the weather is fine you can also take a seat in the castle courtyard
The large selection of coffee in combination with the homemade pastries and the wonderful atmosphere of the café are in fact recommendable.
